On June 5, the Hupacasath First Nation will be challenging the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement(FIPA) in court in Vancouver. This court challenge is important for for all of us as FIPA violates the rights and freedoms of all Canadians.
Brenda Sayers of the Hupacasath First Nation spoke about the court challenge at a Comox Valley Chapter meeting on May 27. She talked about the reasons why this tiny band embarked on this difficult and expensive process and how important it is to protect the Canada we treasure for our future generations. Check out this short clip of Brenda speaking about their reasons and consider donating to the legal defense fund.
